Lead applicants will submit their application which includes a set of video questions, the proposal to our challenge, and a recommendation from an external partner via our application portal

Video questions and proposals must be submitted by no later than May 7th at 11:59PM PST (midnight)

Evaluation

Applications  will be reviewed by a group of experts in building diverse, tech ecosystems based on our Scoring Rubric

Award

Awardees will be notified via email and will submit a Grant Agreement

2019 - 2020

Share

Grantees will have one year from the time of the Grant award to implement proposed solutions with progress reports due at 3 months and 6 months, and a final report at the end of the Grant Agreement

Selection
Criteria

1. Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Preference will be given to organizations that demonstrate a meaningful commitment to diversity, which includes but is not limited to:

*Serving underrepresented women and people of color in tech and/or underserved populations in the community

*Organizations led and operated by underrepresented women and people of color

2. Meaningful Collaboration

Organizations applying should have a track record of positive collaboration and partnership in their community, engaging at least one other partner in the local community

3. Segment of Leaky Tech Pipeline

Solutions must address one or more of the following segments from the tech ecosystem:

*Post-Secondary:Academic Preparation for tech careers; Tech Curriculum and Offerings; Role Models, Mentors, and Peer Networks in tech; Internships and Workforce Pathways in tech

*Tech Workforce: Bias in Recruitment, Interviewing, and Hiring; Workplace Culture and Harassment; Bias in Promotion and Advancement; Pay Inequality

*Entrepreneurship & VC: Entrepreneurship Education and Tech Career Pathways; Social Networks and Social Capital; Incubation of Startups; Venture Capital; Culture and Climate of Venture Capital

4. Regions

We know innovation exists everywhere. We welcome applications from across the U.S. We have a preference for applications that have a SMASH program or equivalent in their region. To learn more about SMASH, please visit:https://www.smash.org/
